Join fellow farmers to learn how to collect accurate soil samples, as part of the 2025/26 Geographe Soil Testing Program.
Hands-on training will be provided by DPIRD Officers.
You will learn how to:
- Take accurate and representative soil samples of your paddocks.
- Set up the sampling equipment – drill and auger.
- GPS your sampling locations.
- Prepare sample bags for the lab.
This training is highly recommended for participants of the Geographe Soil Testing Program, but everyone is welcome!
To prepare for the training:
- Watch the short training video before attending – Fit for Purpose Soil Sampling (youtube.com)
- Respect biosecurity on our host farm with clean boots and cars.
- Dress appropriate (hat, boots, sunscreen) and bring water bottle.
- BYO device (either a charged smart phone or iPad) – Install Filemaker Go app before you come – or we can help on the day!
- If possible, bring a charged battery drill.
- Morning tea provided, so bring along your keep cup!
This activity is a part of Healthy Estuaries WA and Revitalising Geographe Waterways, State Government programs; and Soils – New Horizons, a bilateral partnership agreement between the Australian Government and the State Government of WA (DPIRD).
