Tell Us How You Garden

Please help GeoCatch to care for the catchment by telling us if you are doing these Bay OK actions in your garden. If an action is not applicable to your garden, select N/A.

1. If needed, use slow-release fertilisers instead of general fertilisers
2. If using fertiliser, hold off on applying until Spring and Autumn
3. Hold off on fertilising when there are heavy rains around
4. Keep fertiliser applications 1.0m away from paths, driveways and storm drains to reduce run off
5. Apply fertiliser following directions on product packages and treat application rates as the maximum amount to apply
6. If using, apply composted manures no more than twice per year (spring, early autumn) following Bay OK recommended rates (i.e. Cow: 2 kg/m2, Chicken: 1 kg/m2, Sheep/Horse: 2.5 kg/m2)
7. If needed, add micronutrients to garden plants and produce beds annually to assist plant growth
8. Grow Australian Native plants which require less fertiliser and water
9. Add clays to improve sandy soils at the application rate recommended on product labels
10. Apply soil wetter to your lawn and gardens at least twice a year following directions on product packages
11. Maintain a coarse chunky layer of mulch (i.e. tree prunings, pine bark, stones or gravel) 50-75 mm thick on all garden beds
Could GeoCatch contact you in 12 months to see how you are going with adopting these gardening actions?
