Community members are invited to join GeoCatch on a guided bus tour for a unique behind-the-scenes look at Busselton’s drainage network and flood management systems.
Hear directly from infrastructure managers from Water Corporation and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation as they explain how the drainage network operates, the role of flood modelling, and the measures in place to help manage flood risks across the region.
The tour will visit several key drainage and water management sites, including:
- Sabina River Detention Basin
- Vasse Diversion Drain
- Vasse Estuary Surge Barrier
- Wonnerup Sand Bar
A light lunch will be provided.
PLEASE NOTE: This event involves boarding and disembarking a large bus via stairs, prolonged standing as well as walking short distances on uneven gravel surfaces (up to a few hundred metres). The walk to the sand bar is a fair distance along a sandy and uneven pathway and can be cold and windy. Attendees may opt out of the sand bar walk and enjoy lunch in the car park. Two toilet stops will be available throughout the day.
