Dr Richard Lucas from Busselton Vet Hospital is encouraging cat owners to take advantage of GeoCatch’s $200 catio rebate to keep your cat safe.
“Catio’s are vital to keeping your cat safe and protecting our native wildlife, and I’m speaking from personal experience. We’ve felt the heartbreak of a cat disappearing for days or getting hit by a car or bitten by a snake – all of which happened to our previous cat – but not with Hobbes! He is safe in his Catio”, said Richard. (*Catio = cat enclosure)
Local governments across Perth and the south west have been discussing how responsible cat owners can keep their cats contained on their properties. Better still, if you are in the Geographe catchment, there is a rebate available for you to build your own catio. GeoCatch is offering a rebate for cat owners to install a new cat enclosure for their beloved feline.
Eligible cat owners need to register for the rebate by 31st March, and have the enclosure installed by 30th June 2023. The rebate aims to assist cat owners with keeping cats safe and healthy on their properties while having peace of mind in knowing where their cats are at all times.
Cat owners will have the confidence to allow their cats outside access while still being mindful of urban wildlife, other pets and neighbours. The critically endangered western ringtail possum is of particular interest in the Geographe Bay Catchment, a species often found in backyards where it can conflict with free-access cats and dogs in urban areas.
Cat enclosures are one option for responsible cat owners resulting in a win-win for all! Pictured are Nicole Lincoln from GeoCatch and Dr Richard Lucas. For more information, click here.
