Helping landholders make the most out of their patch

Got a few acres and not sure what to do with them? You’re not alone. Whether it’s managing weeds, improving soil, planting trees, or just working out where to start—owning a small property can be both rewarding and overwhelming.

GeoCatch is hosting a free workshop with sustainability expert Chris Ferreira, designed to give landholders the knowledge and tools they need to care for their patch. Heavenly Hectares is especially suited to semi-rural and lifestyle landholders looking to get more out of their property—whether that’s productivity, peace of mind, or better land management.

Chris will share practical insights into soil health, pasture improvement, and land management tailored to small properties. He’ll also guide participants through creating a simple property plan, understanding how to manage their land sustainably, and making informed decisions about fencing, planting, and general maintenance, whatever the long-term vision for the block may be.

“People often buy land for a lifestyle change, but they’re not always sure how to manage it well,” says Lisa Massey, Project Officer at GeoCatch. “This workshop gives people the tools and confidence to take the next step, no matter their background or experience.”

Participants will leave with practical tips and a clearer vision for their property, plus information about GeoCatch and future events.

The Heavenly Hectares workshop will be held on Wednesday 21 August, 4pm to 7pm in Busselton. Places are limited so register now at www.geocatch.asn.au

This event is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program under the Natural Heritage Trust.
