Protecting Broadwater Wetlands from Feral Animals

A Community Information Evening

GeoCatch is launching a new 3-year biodiversity project: Protecting Broadwater Wetlands from Feral Animals. We are inviting you to a community information evening where you can learn about the Broadwater Wetlands and how you can be involved as a citizen scientist!

If you live near the wetlands and are interested in conservation, we are welcoming participants for our citizen science feral animal monitoring and control program. You can help us better understand the distribution and impacts of rabbits, foxes and feral cats in the Broadwater area, and will inform how we coordinate feral animal control efforts in the future. Reducing feral animal numbers will have direct positive outcomes for our native wildlife such as the Western Ringtail Possum and the Snake-necked Turtle.

Aquatic ecologist Dr Robyn Paice will present on the ecological importance of the Broadwater Wetlands both for native animals and our community.

Dr Robyn Paice is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management and Monitoring at Edith Cowan University.

Registration essential! Light supper and refreshments provided on arrival.

This project is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
