Teens and Corporates Unite for National Tree Day

GeoCatch’s recent planting event at Dolphin Road foreshore in West Busselton was a resounding success  —including high school students from Busselton Senior High School and Georgiana Molloy Anglican School, as well as staff from Country Builders Busselton—to plant 1000 native seedlings along the foreshore.

This initiative was part of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, which has seen over 28 million trees, shrubs, and grasses planted across Australia since 1996.

“The event provided local students with an invaluable opportunity to engage with nature, learn about native wildlife habitats, and understand how their actions can positively impact the environment,” said GeoCatch natural resource management officer, Nicole Lincoln.

Busselton Toyota donates 1000 seedlings annually towards tree planting in the Busselton area as part of an ongoing sponsorship agreement with GeoCatch.

The newly planted seedlings, equipped with biodegradable shelters, will mature into vital understory vegetation, enhancing habitat corridors for native wildlife and facilitating safer movement for the critically endangered Western Ringtail Possum.

“GeoCatch extends heartfelt thanks to all participants for their dedication and teamwork in achieving a common goal that significantly benefits our native wildlife,” said Nicole.

The event was made possible with funding from Busselton Toyota and State NRM, delivered in partnership with the City of Busselton.
