Grazing Matcher

Grow more grass and healthier livestock

Grazing Matcher Program

The program, commencing Autumn each year, is open to grazing businesses in the Geographe catchment.

How does it work?

  • 8 farming businesses (with up to 2 people able to participate per business)
  • 8 grower meetings, held over 12 months
  • Meetings held at participants’ farms (rotating throughout the year)
  • Meetings facilitated by technical consults, Jeisane Accioly (ALIS Consulting) and Dan Parnell (Agsure Consulting), along with guest speakers.
  • Peer networking opportunities to meet other farmers within the catchment with similar conditions and issues
  • Professional advice to support your business (both at the meetings and with online support between meetings).

Grazing Matcher

How much does it cost?

$750 (+GST) farmer contribution per farming enterprise (valued at $4000 – subsidised by GeoCatch and funding partners).

What will be covered?

  • Grazing management tailored to local conditions to maximise productivity including understanding quality, resilience to grazing, root growth, ground cover, weed management and nutrient uptake
  • Efficient fodder production (quality, quantity and cost), storage and use
  • Understanding seasonal animal requirements
  • Maximising pasture utilisation
  • Understanding feed analysis, efficient feed and supplement allocation.

This program is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program under the Natural Heritage Trust.
