Our local veterinary practices are passionate about supporting GeoCatch’s Catio Rebate.
They are big supporters because they know first-hand what a big difference a catio can make to both the safety of domestic cats and local wildlife.
Pictured here is Helen and Dr Kate Hunt from GEOvet. Since 1995, GEOvet has been providing the very best care in the South West for animals large and small, and they have seen more than their fair share of cats who have been injured as they wander about the neighbourhood. They have also had to deal with countless native birds and small animals that have been injured by domestic cats.
So how can you help? If you own a cat, you can install a catio. And right now, GeoCatch is offering a $200 rebate for cat owners to install a new cat enclosure for their beloved feline. Eligible cat owners need to register for the rebate and have the enclosure installed by 30th June 2025.
The rebate aims to assist cat owners with keeping cats safe and healthy on their properties while having peace of mind in knowing where their cats are at all times.
Of particular interest in the Geographe Bay Catchment is the critically endangered western ringtail possum; a species often found in backyards where it can come into conflict with free-access cats and dogs in urban areas. Cat enclosures are one option for responsible cat owners resulting in a win-win for all!
Local vets supporting the GeoCatch catio program include Vasse Vets, GEOvet Capel and Busselton Busselton, Busselton Vet Hospital, Heritage Vets, Dunsborough Vets, Fur Life Vets Dalyellup, Animal Health Centre Donnybrook, and Harradine & Associates.
This project is delivered by GeoCatch, in partnership with Shire of Augusta Margaret River, City of Busselton, Shire of Capel and Shire of Donneybrook-Balingup with funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
